Goverment , politician and wealthy individual have been urge to used water melon farming to create job to the teeming youth in Kebbi state and country at large.
Some watermelon farmers made the call while speaking with Nigeria Reports in Kebbi.
The farmers said it’s unfortunate despite the huge land and the watermelon been produces in the state but there is no single watermelon processing company in the state, unless it have been moves to some part of the country where it will under go some processing and packages before sending it back to Kebbi for consumption.
According to the Farmers watermelon farming and production can be use as a way of creating jobs to thousands youth which will also help in improving the economic development of our country.
They therefore called for goverment to look the possibility of using the sector to desertification the economic ot the country.
Furthermore the farmers called the politicians to stop engaging youth in to political thugs instead they should establish watermelon processing company to prevent the youths from social vices.
Reports indicate that there are hundreds of watermelon farmers accroos kebbi state producing large amount of watermelon in both dry and rainy season which resulted in transforting it to southern part of country due to the fact that there is no any watermelon company in the area.
