President Bola Tinubu, yesterday, officially presented endorsement flags of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to candidates of the party contesting the November 11 gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa, Kogi and Imo states.

Those who received the flags are Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo, who is running for a second term; Timipre Sylva (Bayelsa) and Usman Ododo (Kogi).

The event, held at the Banquet Hall of the State House, was attended by APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, National Working Committee (NWC) members and guests of the candidates.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed November 11, 2023 to conduct off-season elections in the three states.

Ganduje led the three candidates to the Presidential Villa, where the flags were handed to them.

“All I am pleading for is free and fair elections. I believe we will do well,’’ the President said.

Tinubu applauded Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, “who is working hard to hand over to another product of our party, Usman Ododo”. He thanked “Hope Uzodimma, the great hope of our party, and the chairman, Progressive Governors’ Forum” for the “good job” he said they had been doing.

He added: “Timipre Sylva, congratulations on what you’ve achieved as a former governor and a former minister of petroleum resources. We are all fronting a crusade for democracy, in particular, in this off-season election. It’s our hope and my hope, we believe, you will all always come out victorious.”
