The traditional ruler of the Mowe community in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Festus Oluwole Makinde, has joined his ancestors.
The monarch, also known as the Onigbein of Igbeinland, passed on at the age of 85, on Tuesday.
Our correspondent gathered from a National Youth Service Corps member who spoke anonymously on Wednesday that the palace premises, which also serve as the Mowe community NYSC sub-office in the local government, wore a gloomy look as residents of the community troop in to pay tribute to the monarch.
The corps member said, “We barely managed to hold our CDS weekly meetings today and have been told there won’t be any holding this week again. We learnt this morning that the king passed away yesterday.
A condolence register has also been placed at the palace entrance.
